Director of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Policy of the Ministry of Defense Valentin Fedichev stated this on Channel 5, Ukrinform reports.
“The Supreme Commander-in-Chief set the task of even learning English. This task must be completed within a year,” Fedichev said.
After all the officers learn English according to Poroshenko’s plans, they will begin to teach it to soldiers.
Earlier, Petro Poroshenko said that 2016 in Ukraine would be declared the year of the English language. He is convinced that English should be the second language to be taught in Ukrainian schools. According to Poroshenko, Singapore, where in the 1950s the state leadership forced English to be a second language, is now among the developed countries of the world.
