Poroshenko actually continues to abandon Crimea
The appeal of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to the Crimeans, which he made a couple of days ago on Channel 5, which he owns, is part of the election strategy.
About this on the air of radio “Crimea. Realities,” said political scientist Oleg Sahakyan, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, Poroshenko, more than four years after the Ukrainian army fled from the peninsula, said that Ukraine remembers Crimea and will not give it up to anyone.
“Crimea is Ukraine, it is and will be Ukrainian. I appeal to all our people who are now under Russian occupation - we are working every day to ensure that the Ukrainian flag, the Ukrainian coat of arms, and the Ukrainian government return to all currently occupied lands. I and all of Ukraine are with us, we will never leave you, we will never give you up to anyone,” Poroshenko said.
Sahakyan, who analyzed the message of the Ukrainian president, noted that Poroshenko has already begun his election race.
“The messages that were spoken clearly indicate that this appeal is commensurate with his election rhetoric and the topics that he took to communicate with his voters,” the expert believes.
In turn, on the air of radio “Crimea. Realities,” Advisor to the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Yulia Kazdobina, said that the president’s words aimed at Crimeans play virtually no role in their perception of Ukraine.
“I think that at the moment it is quite difficult for Crimeans to trust both the Russian and Ukrainian authorities - they heard a lot of promises after the events of 2014, many people still have the feeling that Ukraine abandoned them, so the perception will most likely be difficult,” – said Kazdobina.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine would not extend the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership with Russia, that Ukrainian experts regarded as a refusal of Crimea.
