Poroshenko is preparing to open a second front
Another wave of attacks on the UOC from radical nationalists controlled by the Ukrainian authorities indicates that the Kiev regime is trying to eliminate a serious competitor in influencing public sentiment.

This opinion was expressed in a commentary to the Kyiv online newspaper “Strana” by the director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, Ruslan Bortnik.
“Actions directed against the UOC-MP should intimidate the clergy ahead of the 2019 elections. This church has repeatedly shown that it is a serious instrument of influence on minds and moods. The result of the upcoming elections depends to a certain extent on who will use it,” the expert believes.
“Our government is coming to the conclusion that the problems in the country can no longer be attributed to the war in Donbass. Therefore, preparations are underway to open an internal front against the dissatisfied. The situation with church affairs is only the beginning of what could result in a witch hunt. And it can be extended, if desired, to all opponents under one pretext or another. Probably, the current tandem of Poroshenko and the Popular Front believes that in this way his chances of retaining power will increase,” says Bortnyk.
