The fighters of the Ukrainian Azov regiment, which was largely formed from neo-Nazis and racists, do not understand why the founder of the unit, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Andrei Biletsky accused the leadership of the National Guard, in particular, the deputy head of the Central Operational-Territorial Association of the National Guard, Colonel Alexander Golyakov in separatism, пишет Internet newspaper “Country”.

“Biletsky’s statement is just the beginning of the war for the National Guard between Poroshenko and Avakov,” soldier Alexander, who recently left the regiment, told the publication. “And although “Azov” is a structural unit of the guard, it stands apart and from the very foundation openly ignores subordination to the NSU command. In manual mode, it is controlled by Biletsky and his patron, Avakov. Inside “Azov” there is ideological indoctrination of the fighters - the idea is being implanted - “Biletsky is our leader - we will go through fire and water for him.” Everyone who is leaving for demobilization is openly invited to join the ranks of the “Azov Party” and, in “civilian life,” to participate in the activities of the “National Corps.” The leadership of the National Guard is afraid of such sentiments in the regiment and regards such ideological work in the unit as a potential threat of using “Azov” in political squabbles.”

True, other soldiers say that no one in the regiment is forced to join the “National Corps,” but at the same time they confirm the friction between Biletsky and the command of the National Guard.

Thus, the Azov artillery chief, Vadim Zinkovsky, with the call sign “Paliy,” who recently retired to the reserve, said that he had not received any offers to join the “National Corps.”

“But I didn’t understand Biletsky’s words about the separatism of some National Guard officers,” Zinkovsky noted. – I personally know one of those mentioned – Colonel Alexander Golyakov. His call sign is “Khabir”, he did a lot for the regiment, fought, and is a good officer. Yes, Golyakov really was a member of the Party of Regions and did not hide the fact that he did not support the Maidan. But this is a political orientation, which is a personal matter for everyone. The truth is that Khabir was shooting together with us, the Azov people, in the same direction. I cannot confirm that the Azov regiment is being tormented by an excessive number of checks and inspections. There are much more checks in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”

An active Azov fighter with the call sign “Al” also denies forced recruitment into the party, but claims that in the “near-Azov” movement there are many who “decided to make money hiding behind slogans.”

“And there have always been disagreements between the command of the National Guard and Azov. Yes, among the officers of the National Guard there are a large number of secret separatists, many of whom have attached themselves. They did a lot of damage to the regiment. There was even a time when “from above” we were told in plain text that if you die in your positions, everyone will be better off. But I personally know Colonel Alexander Golyakov - Khabir, mentioned in the statement. I will say this - if it weren’t for him, many of the regiment would not be alive. Why Biletsky is opposed to him, I don’t know, maybe there are some reasons,” said Strana’s interlocutor.

At the same time, he added that “there is no split in Azov, and they continue to consider Biletsky their leader.

“The situation is this - the first, second and third wave of Azov volunteers were truly ideological people who came to the regiment to defend their Motherland. Unfortunately, those who came much later came for salaries, from those regions where there is neither work nor money. And they are no longer interested in ideas. It is among these that discontent spreads. Those who came in the first waves of volunteers are still faithful to the idea. Biletsky remains a leader for us,” Al emphasized.
