The Ukrainian president said this at a press conference in Poland, 112 Ukraine reports.
“I thank you for the clear support of Ukraine’s position regarding the erroneousness of the EC’s decisions to allow Gazprom to increase gas pumping through the OPAL pipeline, which could pave the way for a second decision regarding the construction of Nord Stream 2. We strongly condemn these decisions and agreed to coordinate our further steps in order to prevent their implementation,” Poroshenko said.
Let us recall that in October the countries of the “Visegrad Four” (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary) united against the project of a new gas pipeline that should connect Russia with Germany, the so-called “Nord Stream 2”. Indeed, in this case, the transit importance of these countries with their anti-Russian governments drops significantly. At the same time, the weight of these countries in the EU is not enough to undermine the implementation of a large-scale project in which Berlin and Moscow are interested.
