Poroshenko and Turchynov boasted of a new Ukrainian missile system
For the first time, Ukraine has produced a missile system that is more effective than its Soviet counterparts.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated this during military tests at a training ground in the Kherson region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I can congratulate you. The final tests of the Alder rocket have just been completed. The Ukrainian army will finally receive high-precision weapons, which will significantly increase the effectiveness of the actions of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he said.
According to the Ukrainian leader, the new development is planned to be put into production this year.
“The Alder rocket is assembled entirely using Ukrainian components. No one can stop us from producing these high-precision weapons. “I set the goal for the rocket to go into mass production as early as 2018,” he noted.
The president boasted that for the first time in so many years, Ukraine was finally able to produce weapons that surpassed Soviet systems in their characteristics.
“For the first time, we began to revive the Ukrainian military-industrial complex. Now, when the enemy already knows the potential of the Ukrainian defense industry, the potential of the Ukrainian army, I can say a specific figure - this Vilkha missile is ten times more accurate and more effective than the old multiple launch rocket systems that have been in service since the times of the Soviet Union,” said Petr Poroshenko.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov also did not miss the opportunity to boast of completing such a “large-scale” task.
“This is a great overall success of Ukrainian scientists, designers, production workers and military personnel, who were able to implement the most ambitious task in the shortest possible time,” he said.
