“Firstly, this will add several million votes in any elections and accordingly strengthen the position of pro-Russian forces in Ukraine, which, given the expected decline in support for the current government, will worsen the risks,” the publication notes. – Secondly, the pacification of even the liberated Donbass and especially its restoration will place an additional burden on the already problematic Ukrainian budget. Thirdly, restoring control over the region without Russia’s capitulation and its forceful liberation from terrorists is impossible without any significant concessions to Donbass.”
The weekly believes that concessions to Donbass carry serious risks for the Ukrainian government.
“War and blood have created too serious a divide between Ukraine and the terrorist-controlled Donbass for everything to pass without consequences,” sums up Ukrainian Week. – Serious concessions in Donbass are dangerous for the Ukrainian authorities from the point of view of the internal reaction to the surrender of national interests and capitulation to terrorists and the Kremlin. At the same time, the end of the war in the East will significantly intensify the confrontation around internal political issues.”
