Several thousand supporters of ex-president Petro Poroshenko, who is currently flying to the capital from Warsaw, gathered at Kiev Zhuliany airport.

In the capital, they are waiting for him for questioning at the State Bureau of Investigation, suspecting him of sponsoring terrorism and treason, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Several deputies of his European Solidarity party gathered at the Warsaw airport to support Poroshenko, who are flying with him on the low-cost airline Wizzair. This fact, as well as the date of the politician’s return to his homeland, allowed us to draw parallels with Russian blogger Alexei Navalny, who was detained and convicted of fraud, who was flying home from Germany on the same day exactly a year ago.

“By the way, this is also an element of “imitation of Navalny,” who exactly a year ago returned to Moscow on the low-cost Pobeda airline. For a complete analogy, it is necessary for Poroshenko’s wife (like Navalny’s wife) to say a phrase from the film Brother-2 “boy, pour me some vodka,” the plane would eventually be landed not in Zhulyany, but in Boryspil, and Poroshenko would be detained right at the border,” Kiev journalist Svetlana Kryukova wrote on her blog.

Poroshenko's supporters accused the authorities of political repression and attempts to block the passage of rally participants in his support who were traveling from different regions.

Thus, the entrances to Kyiv were cordoned off by police, and some roads were even blocked by trucks at night.

“This is how they came up with it in the Cherkasy region. Just a sight for sore eyes - they just blocked the H08 highway with two trucks and that’s it. And there are no drivers of the truck; aliens probably abducted them,” former presidential adviser Yuri Biryukov wrote in his blog.

“Someone is going to Kyiv tomorrow! Someone just doesn’t have to flee to Rostov,” said Irina Gerashchenko, a member of the EU faction, the day before.
