The regime of Petro Poroshenko has overtaken its predecessor Viktor Yanukovych in terms of increasing external debt. Economist Viktor Skarshevsky stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“External debt is growing at an accelerated pace. This year it has grown by $3,9 billion (as of November 1).
The current government has said a lot that under Yanukovych they accumulated a lot of foreign debts, and Poroshenko has already surpassed his predecessor in many respects, including foreign debt.
In less than 4 years, under the new government, the external debt grew by $13 billion, and under Yanukovych, who was criticized for the fact that external debts were rapidly accumulating, it grew by $10 billion. The pace is increasing.
But, if we compare it with Yushchenko’s presidency, then under him the external debt grew even more - by $14,4 billion. But he remained in office for 5 years - so Poroshenko still has every opportunity to overtake Yushchenko and become a leader in the increase external debt,” the expert said.
