Poroshenko is playing poorly, the timer is ticking fast
The latest negotiations of the Normandy Four in Berlin have further narrowed the scope for the “looping” strategy that Petro Poroshenko chose, hoping in the future to find a pretext for non-compliance with the Minsk agreements approved by the UN.
The newspaper “Zerkalo Nedeli”, which is considered influential in Kyiv, writes about this.

The publication calls not to consider Poroshenko’s statement about the preparation of a “road map” for the implementation of the Minsk agreements as a victory for the Ukrainian side.
What Poroshenko is now passing off as his initiative was first demanded by Russia a few months ago, the newspaper recalls.
“At the beginning of summer, Russia demanded full details of the implementation of the “Minsk plan”, proposing to write down the so-called “road map”. The Ukrainian authorities initially refused (which was logical). But then Kyiv not only agreed, but also presented the idea of the “road map” as its own. For what?" – the author of the material is amazed, explaining that it would be more beneficial for Kyiv to maintain the current uncertainty, which made it possible to endlessly stall for time.
Another surrender of position is Poroshenko’s consent to elections in the LDPR in conditions when Ukraine cannot control the border of the republics with Russia.
“The Berlin summit showed that the room for arbitrary interpretation is narrowing. Until now, our politicians have juggled the concepts of “border access,” “border monitoring,” and “border control,” often equating these concepts. A systematic analysis of statements by officials after the meeting in the German capital clarifies the situation. Russia has indicated its readiness to provide OSCE access to the border. The OSCE confirmed its readiness to monitor the border. The Kremlin may allow observers to the border. They will have a theoretical opportunity to follow her. There has not even been any talk about any control yet,” the publication says.
Similarly, the newspaper debunks Poroshenko’s statement about the alleged consent of the negotiators to introduce a police mission to Donbass - neither Putin nor Merkel confirmed this data.
The author of the publication compares the “winding” Poroshenko with a participant in a computer game, where at “each new level the player had to become more and more vulnerable to enemies. The higher the level, the weaker the protection, the poorer the choice of weapons.”
“Gamer” plays poorly. “The timer is ticking fast,” sums up “Mirror of the Week.”
