Poroshenko initiated the “First Church Administration of the SBU” in Ukraine
Kyiv will seek the exodus of believers and clergy from the UOC-MP to a new church structure subordinate to Istanbul.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now they will stimulate the exodus of believers, clergy, and hierarchs from the UOC to the new church. This will be done gradually. You can already roughly understand what the first two steps will be,” the expert noted.
Without denying that persecution of parishioners and priests and a “fight for laurels” will take place, he clarified that he does not see anything wrong with this.
"First. The Ministry of Justice will change the name. Now it will be called the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine. This is necessary so that the believer of the UOC-MP feels uncomfortable, because this is the Russian church in Ukraine. The second is the fight for laurels. But she will be calm, because now President Poroshenko has completed his tasks. He doesn’t need religious conflicts on the eve of the elections, because then he can devalue his victory,” Karasev said.
Presenter Vladimir Solovyov did not agree with these conclusions and assessments of President Poroshenko.
“What is his task? Do you understand that he plunged a bunch of believers into hell? Because he, having violated the Constitution of Ukraine, slipped them an absolute fake instead of the true church. And the very name “OCU” is the first church administration, then we must add “safety services of Ukraine” - this indicates the vulgarity of the event. When the president goes out in a country where church is separated from the state, he comes to the council and leads it! You've gone crazy! - said Soloviev.
