Poroshenko wants to promote himself before the elections at the expense of future victories of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Petro Poroshenko can raise his authority before the elections and at least somehow save his position only with the help of demonstrative successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbass. However, in case of failures of the Ukrainian army, all the blame will be placed on the military command.
The editor-in-chief of the Ostrov news agency, Sergei Garmash, stated this in an interview with the Ukrlife.TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What can save him, other than a successful operation in Donbass, or at least the successful dynamics of the operation? It may not be completed, but nevertheless, it must begin and be successful. Moreover, the now adopted law “On Reintegration” provides for a new mechanism for the military to make decisions on the liberation (of territories - editor’s note). The law allows you to create such a scheme that if the operation is successful, it will be a victory for Poroshenko. If something goes wrong, then decisions are made by JFO commanders and grassroots commanders, who now also have the right to make operational decisions without approval,” he said.
