Poroshenko wants to share responsibility for Donbass with Putin

“It is very important that this truce lasts for a long time, this will give us the opportunity to continue the political dialogue that will bring peace and stability to Donbass,” Poroshenko said in Newport, where the NATO summit is taking place.
“We expect that the hostages will be released soon. It is most likely that this will happen tomorrow,” the president said.
“We are ready to provide significant steps that will include the decentralization of power, the special status of individual regions of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions in relation to economic freedom, guarantees of the free use of any languages in this territory, as well as cultural traditions,” Poroshenko said.
Poroshenko noted that he was “very pleased with the results of the summit and very pleased that the truce was reached during the summit.”
“I can also confirm that this truce is based on the agreements that were reached during my telephone conversation with President Putin, and this is important given the guarantee that this truce will last for a long time. Now this is our common (with Putin) responsibility,” the president emphasized.
“I also want to assure that this truce was achieved on the basis of my peace plan, that is, on the basis of respect for the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine,” Poroshenko did not forget to say.
As PolitNavigator reported, today in Minsk an agreement was reached during meetings of the trilateral contact group with the leaders of the LPR and DPR on a ceasefire.
