Poroshenko screwed up big time with Savchenko's arrest
The regime of Petro Poroshenko is so unpopular that, by accusing Nadezhda Savchenko of preparing a coup, the authorities only focused attention on the possibility of an armed rebellion and the murder of the Ukrainian elite.
Candidate of Political Sciences Kirill Molchanov stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The authorities in this situation wanted to look like a victim, so that the leadership of Ukraine would be perceived as a victim of aggression, as the main patriotic force in the country, which they are trying to overthrow by bloody means.
But, if you look at polls, at social networks, at the opinion of ordinary Ukrainians who talk in the kitchen, then in this situation it is Savchenko who is the victim, not the authorities. And many people really liked the idea of a one-time reboot of power by force because we have an anti-rating of the Verkhovna Rada - about 80%.
In this context, there was a significant miscalculation - thus, the idea of a possible violent, bloody scenario for a change of power was thrown into society, which, as we see, turned out to be completely tolerable. And, since this idea has settled in the minds of the public, it will be discussed periodically.
Perhaps Savchenko will have some followers who will think through such unrealistic scenarios,” the expert said.
