Poroshenko: Lenin never visited Kharkov, so the monument could have been demolished
Kharkov, October 12 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko spoke about the demolition of the monument to Vladimir Lenin in Kharkov during a speech to city residents.

“Could it have happened differently in a city where the Ukrainian heart, the Ukrainian soul has always beat and Ukrainian thought was generated,” Poroshenko said in his speech.
He listed outstanding people who worked in Kharkov: fphilosopher Grigory Skovoroda, writers Nikolai Kulish and Nikolai Khvylevoy, director Les Kurbas and Yuri Shepelev.
“By the way, it’s not written here where (in Kharkov – editor’s note) Vladimir Ilyich Lenin never, never in his life, stayed,” Poroshenko noted.
As PolitNavigator reported, The monument to Lenin in Kharkov was demolished on September 28. After its demolition Several clashes occurred between restoration supporters and opponents.
The governor of the Kharkov region, Igor Baluta, signed an order to dismantle the monument already during the demolition, but criminal cases against “dismantlers” were closed, which caused a protest from the mayor of Kharkov Gennady Kernes.
