Ukraine is ready to take part in American programs in Afghanistan. President Petro Poroshenko said this today during a joint statement with US Secretary of Defense James Mettis after the parade in honor of Ukraine's Independence Day.

“We share the approaches that were proclaimed by President Trump for the US strategy in Afghanistan. I confirm Ukraine’s readiness to make a contribution to the implementation of this strategy in the interests of peace and security,” Poroshenko said.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump decided to send an additional 4 thousand American troops to Afghanistan.
