Poroshenko can only be stopped by a single candidate from the South-East – sociologist
The south-eastern electorate currently does not have a clear leader to win at least in the first round of the upcoming presidential elections next March.
Alexander Vishnyak, head of the department of socio-political processes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe”.
In his opinion, Yulia Tymoshenko will lose because “the war delayed women’s chances of winning the presidential election for a long time.
The sociologist also says that Tymoshenko will enter the second round together with Poroshenko, where the incumbent president will have more chances.
“Who can stop him? Only a single candidate from the south-eastern electorate, believes Vishnyak. “But they don’t have a charismatic candidate, and Yuriy Boyko doesn’t look like one.” The electoral niche of these candidates at one time was over 40%, but after the annexation of Crimea and the occupation of part of Donbass it fell to 20%. A significant part of Russian-speaking Ukrainians stopped voting for pro-Russian candidates and switched to candidates from another camp. And there is no such candidate who is ready to master all 20% on that flank.”
