“On June 24, militants, contrary to their own promises to observe the ceasefire, given in Donetsk at a meeting with representatives of the Trilateral Contact Group, shot down a helicopter of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and caused the death of nine people. Since the announcement of the President’s peace plan, terrorists have opened fire on the Ukrainian military 35 times,” says a message posted on the official website of the head of state.

As the presidential press service reported, Porosheno, during a meeting with the heads of security forces, gave the order to open fire without hesitation.

“The head of state does not rule out that the ceasefire may be canceled ahead of schedule, due to its constant violation by militants controlled from outside,” the head of state reports on the official website.

It is noted that the President of Ukraine hopes to hold a four-way telephone conference on June 25 with the participation of Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, President of France Francois Hollande and President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

“Petro Poroshenko expects that the consequence of this conversation will be practical steps by Russia to ensure disarmament and the withdrawal of mercenaries from the territory of Ukraine, as well as the introduction of a reliable security regime on the border,” the message says.

As Navigator reported, today Vladimir Putin said that the announced seven-day truce in eastern Ukraine is not enough. In addition, he emphasized that “we need to start substantive negotiations on the essence of the problem.”
