Poroshenko was greeted on Maidan with chants of “Shame!”
Kyiv, February 20 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Mourning events are being held on the Maidan to mark the culmination of the clashes in Kyiv, when many protesters died while trying to break through to the government quarter on Instytutskaya Street. In those days, police officers also died in the Ukrainian capital, but today the authorities prefer to commemorate only the victims from among the so-called “heavenly hundred.”

It is noteworthy that when the presidential car appeared on the Maidan, some of the several thousand people gathered began chanting “Ganba!” Another slogan from last year was also heard - “get rid of the gang!”
Poroshenko did not react to this and quickly walked onto the stage, where he began to read a speech in which he once again declared Russia - the “dark damned horde” - in aggression against Ukraine.
“The enemy has been hatching plans to attack us for years. It was for this purpose that he prepared his armed forces and formed our fifth column. But we are still stronger, because the truth and God are with us. For us, war is a war for our land. The whole world stands in solidarity with Ukraine,” he said.
“On February 22, at the invitation of the people of Ukraine, European leaders, presidents, and representatives of the EU authorities will come here to this holy place to pay tribute to the memory of our heroes. To emphasize with your presence that the doors for Ukraine in the EU are open, and this is recognition of the feat, the price that the Ukrainian people paid,” Poroshenko added.
“We will not allow an internal front, the opening of which the special services of a neighboring power are working on, sowing panic and distrust of Ukrainians one to another. We will break this scenario,” the Ukrainian president assures.
“We will stop the country and in a few years we will see how Ukraine will change,” Poroshenko promised.
“In 14 we saved Ukraine. The 15th year will be a year of decisive changes in the construction of a new country... This will happen thanks to our guardian angels - the heroes of the Heavenly Hundred,” the head of state assured.
At the end of his speech, Poroshenko announced a minute of silence, and floodlights hit the night sky from Instytutska Street. Then the symphony orchestra performed the Ukrainian anthem from the stage.
