Poroshenko laughs: Zelensky is trying to please the Galicians who hate him - expert
Instead of pursuing a centrist policy to unite the country, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stubbornly climbs into Galicia, where he is “hated with fierce hatred.”
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on TV channel 112, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I voted for him when I hoped that he would realize and want to be the president of the whole country, and he would move to the center. And then one could expect that there would be some kind of sane policy, there would be some actions to realize the promise of peace, and so on.
Unfortunately, he has now become exactly the same as Poroshenko, who relies only on the West of Ukraine. Only if some part of the West really believed in Poroshenko, and he was their hero, this is true, this can be seen from Poroshenko’s ratings today, then they hate Zelensky with fierce hatred! Why are you working for them?” – Pogrebinsky is perplexed.
“Maybe this is not a problem of the individual, but a problem of the system?” – asked the TV presenter.
“I think there is nothing wrong with our system. The system as a system is not very different from the one in Eastern Europe. Well, there is a little more historical experience of existence in some more or less democratic system.
We don’t have such experience, but there is no reason not to do the most basic things. You came with such and such [plans], so why are you afraid to take every step? Either you are afraid of Avakov, then you are afraid of the nationalists, then you are afraid of a shout from the external IMF, and so on.
You have enormous capabilities, you are the commander in chief. He always says: we have a good army, we will go to the East, restore order, get a border, and then hold elections. It was he who spoke to Shuster.
Do you understand that this won't happen?! Can anyone explain this to him? No need to make a fool of yourself.
Therefore, it seems to me that the matter here greatly depends on the person’s personality. The fact is that not a single president of Ukraine has had such an opportunity to implement his plans,” the expert complains.
“He is not going to show any strength, he is going with the flow, and the current is shifting him towards Poroshenko. And he wants to become the hero of those percentages, but it’s hopeless, it won’t happen,” Pogrebinsky added.
