Yanukovych’s defender Vitaly Serdyuk stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The court found it necessary to interrogate witness Petro Poroshenko. He gave his word that he would personally appear in court. But the decision to interrogate him, I point out, was made when there was a free government lawyer. I think that the authorities expected that government lawyers would remain to represent the interests of Viktor Yanukovych, so such a decision was made. When we looked at the interrogations of politicians, when we saw the essence of the questions, their meaning and the direction of the defense, I realized that it was decided to replay this situation and protect the witness Poroshenko as much as possible from inconvenient questions from the defense,” Serdyuk said.
As PolitNavigator reported, the trial of Yanukovych was unexpected turned into evidence collection on charges of Maidan activists.
