Petro Poroshenko used his official position and set the SBU against the competitors of his Roshen chocolate factory - the Konti company, owned by the Donetsk “regional” Boris Kolesnikov.

Andrei Portnov, who headed the legal block in the administration of Viktor Yanukovych, spoke about this on his page.

“The SBU press center suddenly announced that foreign economic sanctions were being introduced against the Konti confectionery business group.

The Security Service of Ukraine, subordinate to Petro Poroshenko, cited incorrect labeling and allegedly poor quality of food products as the reason for the sanctions.

I think no one has any doubt that the Security Service of Ukraine, which does not have the authority to determine the labeling and quality of food products, would never have thought of banning the economic operations of a company with Ukrainian roots that brings foreign exchange earnings and taxes to Ukraine.

Translating everything into simple language, the following happened.

The owner of the confectionery business group ROSHEN, who is also the current Ukrainian president, quietly, using administrative and law enforcement resources, prohibited large confectionery companies from competing with his own confectionery business holding.

As a result of such actions, the Russian and Ukrainian companies ROSHEN, in a non-competitive manner, received unprecedented economic preferences in business, reducing the financial turnover and sales markets of their direct competitors.

It should also be noted that this was done primitively and clumsily, against the backdrop of a synchronized intensification of the promotion of Roshen products in Russia, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions not controlled by Ukraine, without particularly hiding the customer and the goals of personal enrichment,” said Portnov.
