Kyiv, August 20 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appointed Mustafa Dzhemilev as Presidential Commissioner for the Affairs of the Crimean Tatar People.

“To establish that the exercise by the President of Ukraine of powers to ensure compliance with the constitutional rights of the Crimean Tatar people as the indigenous people of Ukraine is ensured by the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for the Affairs of the Crimean Tatar People,” says the decree of the head of state posted on the official website.

According to the decree, the position of commissioner was established with the aim of preserving and developing the ethnic, cultural, linguistic and religious identity of the Crimean Tatar people within.

As Navigator reported, in April Dzhemilev was banned from entering Crimea until 2019.
