Poroshenko will not allow Russian championship matches to be held in Crimea: “This is Ukrainian land”
Kyiv, November 21 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that he would prevent the holding of Russian championship matches in Crimea. The head of state stated this after a meeting with the President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Michel Platini.

“I promised to fight so that the Russian championship would not take place in Crimea, because this is our land,” Poroshenko said.
Platini, in turn, said that UEFA has created a working group on this issue. The final decision will be made within the framework of UEFA statutory norms at a meeting of the UEFA leadership in Lausanne on December 4.
Poroshenko stressed that it is important for Ukraine to maintain control over the development of football in Crimea.
