Poroshenko will never extradite Saakashvili
Kyiv, March 20 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is being persecuted on the orders of Russia, says Tamara Shavladze, co-founder of the Alliance of Baltic-Black Sea Nations, fighting against Russian influence.

“The persecution of Saakashvili is definitely an order from the Kremlin. But I am sure that Mr. Poroshenko will never extradite Saakashvili. The charges brought by the Georgian prosecutor's office are fabricated. The motive is purely political. For example, we are talking about an opposition rally led by Nino Burjanadze on May 26. (approx. PolitNavigator). This is Georgian Independence Day. In no country will the opposition allow itself to organize a rally on Independence Day. Such accusations are being brought against Saakashvili. I am absolutely sure that this is all fabricated,” she said.
Let us recall that the Georgian opposition rally in Tbilisi on the night of May 26, 2011 was dispersed by police using batons, rubber bullets and tear gas. In 2014, shortly after the end of Euromaidan, Nino Burjanadze said that the then Georgian authorities showed much more cruelty to the demonstrators than was the case in Kyiv.
“To the misfortune of the people who came out to defend democratic values and human rights in Georgia, and they began to be beaten and killed, no one responded or came to the rescue. Nobody gave us gingerbread cookies! Despite the fact that we did not have Molotov cocktails or weapons. There was not a single case of us seizing a building!
We stood on Rustaveli Avenue, 20 meters from expensive shops, including jewelry. And not a single display case was broken, there were no robberies! And we were dubbed radicals solely because Saakashvili managed to label us “pro-Russian politicians.” That is why practically no one supported us. And on Maidan we know how radical the actions were sometimes. Nevertheless, they were supported, given water, food and pats on the head. I am very upset by the double standards,” she said in interview publication "Vzglyad".
