“As for Lozhkin’s resignation, as far as I understand, the president complied with his wishes. The situation is changing and in new circumstances the president needs another person - who has burned all his bridges with Moscow. It’s hard for me to imagine that Rainin can, just like Lozhkin before, go and talk with the head of the RF Administration. He has already shown himself too much as a zealous defender of the ideals of Ukrainian nationalism and is known as the person who cleared Kharkov of any actions disloyal to Kiev and people who are engaged in some kind of amateur activity, about whom it could be assumed that they might be pro-Russian. There were even rumors that he was directly involved in the repressions against Aleksandrovskaya (the leader of the Kharkov communists - Ed),” he noted.
Mizail Pogrebinsky also expressed the opinion that the president needs a person who will be a 100% executor of his will and will be grateful to him for such an elevation.
“Rainin is still a newcomer to big politics). He will really serve the president faithfully and even his former connections will fade into the background - I mean the talk that he was allegedly close to Avakov, and not just to Lozhkin. It seems to me that if the president needs him to organize Avakov’s resignation, then he will do it. He is a performer, and a very professional one at that – reviews of his work as governor are very high. So he showed himself positively in management and the president needs such a person,” the political scientist concluded.
