Poroshenko ensured attendance at today's religious procession in Kyiv
The authorities’ opposition to the holding of the UOC-MP Religious Procession in Kyiv led to the fact that there were more participants than last year.
Political scientist Andrei Zolotarev said this on NewsOne, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“An attempt to interfere in religious issues on the part of the state leads to the opposite - the forbidden fruit is always sweet. People act from the opposite,” said the expert.
In his opinion, the people of Ukraine, seeing the attempts of the current government to get involved in the affairs of the church, are protesting more and more, and this is forcing people to convert.
“When these things are done by an extremely unpopular government - attempts to add religious contradictions to society, to aggravate them - this leads to the opposite effect. People are turning to faith more often,” he believes.
