According to Governor Valery Koroviy, the reason was the lack of free land in the region. And farmers’ land, although leased, is still state-owned. But it is impossible to return it without the consent of the tenant.
Farmers complain that the demobilized ATO soldiers are not going to use the land for its intended purpose, and, having received it, they immediately offer to buy it to the same farmers from whom it was taken away.
“I would not be sorry to share my land. I have three hundred hectares, there is not much to share here, as in most small farms. Therefore, I do not understand how this idea will be implemented. As for me, the soldiers deserve something completely different: an apartment, education, salary, rest... But they are not going to work on the ground. If received, the “atoshniks” will either lease or sell the land. The other day a guy came. Demobilized from the ATO and received land. He asks: will you take the land from me? So give me five thousand per hectare. And this is in addition to the field rental fee. That is, in this way, speculative trade in land taken from farmers is provoked,” Vladimir Dyshkant, chairman of the Lipovets district farmers’ association, is indignant.
