Poroshenko declared the Maidan militants “fearless knights with paving stones”
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko issued an appeal on the occasion of the so-called the day of the “Heavenly Hundred Heroes” - the anniversary of the execution of Euromaidan militants, where he called the victims “fearless knights,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The piquancy of the situation is that today many of the “brothers” of the militants praised by Poroshenko perceive the president himself as a traitor to the ideas of the Maidan and openly threaten him with a new “revolution”.

“The Day of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred is a day of remembrance of our brave compatriots who, at the cost of their own lives, gave Ukraine the opportunity to be an independent, democratic state open to the world, and for all of us the opportunity to create our own future.
With pride and gratitude we pay tribute to those whose self-sacrifice became the key to the victory of the Revolution of Dignity, the triumph of the indestructible Ukrainian spirit over the insidious attempts to break us.
The feat of fearless knights, armed only with paving stones and love for Ukraine, four years ago rallied the entire civilized world in support of our choice and currently continues to inspire millions of Ukrainian patriots to resolutely fight against the hybrid challenges of the “Russian world.”
There is only one correct path - liberation of the occupied part of Donbass from the aggressor and the return of Crimea annexed by the Russian Federation.
While remaining committed to the ideals of dignity and freedom, we must assert national unity, develop a democratic, strong and prosperous country, strengthen our army and highly value every moment of life in an independent European Ukraine,” Poroshenko announced.
