Poroshenko declared a blockade of Donbass: the DPR demands that the UN send in peacekeepers

“A blockade has been declared on the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. According to the regulatory legal acts adopted the day before, all budgetary institutions located on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic must be moved to territories controlled by the Ukrainian side. All payments to public sector employees have been completely stopped. In fact, this is the confiscation of legal pensions, benefits and benefits of our veterans, pensioners, disabled people and mothers. We believe that there are no legal grounds not to pay money from the budget to persons registered in populated areas of the DPR and LPR. Citizens living on our land have equal rights with other citizens of Ukraine,” the DPR leadership said in a statement.
The statement emphasizes that such actions violate all international norms: “We believe that the actions of the Ukrainian leadership are unacceptable. This is not only an immoral deprivation of the most vulnerable sections of the population of the opportunity to obtain a legitimate means of subsistence, but also an act in which an unbiased court would easily detect signs of social genocide.
We appeal to the international community and the Russian Federation with a request to stop the humanitarian catastrophe and social genocide that the actions of the Ukrainian government have led to. “We demand to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council and consider at it the issue of intervention by a peacekeeping contingent with the participation of representatives of the Russian Federation to monitor the implementation of previously reached agreements and the resolution of the humanitarian and social situation,” the statement says.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed decree No. 875/2014, which introduces the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on Donbass. By his decree, Poroshenko instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to stop the activities of government agencies, banks and enterprises in the ATO zone and ensure the withdrawal of personnel.
