Poroshenko fears that Trump will put another oligarch in the presidency
It was not without reason that Petro Poroshenko’s entourage reacted so sharply to the proposal of the oligarch and son-in-law of ex-President Leonid Kuchma, billionaire Viktor Pinchuk, to postpone the Crimean issue. Pinchuk offered himself as an alternative implementer of the new American policy towards Ukraine, says Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute for Policy Analysis and Management.

“This publication is absolutely logical. She continues both Kissinger's statement and Thomas Graham's statement. Then we had Filipchuk in Ukraine with his plan. Knowing that the Trump administration has a strict ban on Poroshenko and his team and their approaches to the crisis, people are trying to demonstrate themselves as alternative bridges, possible alternative implementers of the new American policy towards Ukraine.
That’s why this causes such a harsh, sharp reaction from the president’s entourage - people simply climb on his neck and throw him out of the processes, depriving him of exclusivity even in this fusion. That’s why he reacts so sharply to Savchenko. That’s why there was such a reaction to Pinchuk,” says the expert.
