The newspaper Zerkalo Nedeli, considered influential in Kyiv, criticizes Petro Poroshenko and Alexander Turchynov for the failure of the advertised deliveries of new Dozor-B reconnaissance armored cars to the Ukrainian army fighting in the Donbass.

The prototype of the armored car was presented as an achievement of the Ukrainian defense industry. The order for the production of the first batch was entrusted to the Lvov Armored Plant. The company failed the contract, although Security Council Secretary Turchinov promised to supply 200 armored vehicles to the army and national guard last summer.

“The test sample was allegedly completed in early 2015. It is now in the factory. The workers baptized him “Shame.” They told us that the border guards drove Dozor-B around the autodrome. The car did not return to the plant under its own power,” the newspaper writes.

However, the publication states, Poroshenko prefers to hide the failure.

“On October 3, at the Lviv Armored Plant, Petro Poroshenko tested the strength of the Dozor-B armor with a 7.62 mm machine gun bullet. After the shot, the president convinced the journalists: the armor of the car withstood it, the bullet did not go through, this is an advertisement for “Dozor.” He once again praised the plant workers for their quality work, clapping Ostapts (Director of the Lvov plant - approx. “PolitNavigator”) on the shoulder. But the dent from the bullet should have indicated that the armor was not hardened. So, at least, that’s what the plant workers claimed (requesting anonymity for obvious reasons),” the publication says.

Now the authorities are postponing the delivery date to the beginning of 2016.

“Do you believe that at the beginning of 2016, Ukrainian defenders will receive at least 40 Dozor-B combat vehicles produced by the Lvov Armored Plant, although last year the acting the Supreme Commander promised them 200? So will the authorities, led by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, have the will not only to promote the alleged production of Dozor-B (according to him, the vehicle will be the pride of Ukroboronprom), but to establish mass production and provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, and border troops with light armored vehicles? And also, should we somewhat change our attitude towards executive discipline and personnel policy in the military-industrial complex?” – the Kyiv newspaper criticizes Poroshenko.
