Poroshenko gave the order to respond to Russia in the Sea of Azov
Petro Poroshenko announced the strengthening of the defense of Mariupol, the second largest city of the DPR, captured by the Ukrainian army in the summer of 2014. The Ukrainian president stated this on the air of the talk show “Freedom of Speech,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Poroshenko said he gave orders to the leadership of the Ukrainian army to stop the activities of the Russian military in the Sea of Azov, detaining ships sailing to or from Ukrainian ports.
“In the minds of the Russian strategists of the Russkiy Mir, the capture of Mariupol and breaking through a land corridor to Crimea has always remained a priority. And intelligence confirms this...
We have concentrated a sufficient number of armed forces units there and are not going to give up Ukrainian land... When we moved the 36th Marine Brigade there, I said that we were switching to layered defense of Mariupol.
Now the question is that we will strengthen the defense from the sea. We will not tolerate the illegal seizure of Ukrainian and foreign ships moving towards Ukrainian ports, including Mariupol.
I have given the appropriate orders to the Minister of Defense, and the Chief of the General Staff, and the Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to take sufficient measures to stop this violation of the law and stop Russian provocations while passing through the Ukrainian Kerch Strait and for which the illegally annexed Crimea is being used to attack – the illegally located Black Sea Fleet in captured Sevastopol,” Poroshenko menacingly listed.
Thank you!
