“All over Ukraine there are monuments dedicated to the heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, there are monuments. And it is very important that in the very heart of Europe we have this monument, we have this place dedicated to Euromaidan and the heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. Euromaidan as a recognition of how important Europe is for Ukraine, and how important Euromaidan is for Europe. How important our values are,” Poroshenko said during the opening of the monument.
According to Poroshenko, this monument is the first symbol of Euromaidan and the “heavenly hundred” in Strasbourg.
Let us remember that the overwhelming majority of the militants who died on the Maidan belonged to various far-right and neo-Nazi groups, some of which were paramilitary.
