Poroshenko sent a lawyer to Panama to defend himself against Portnov’s claims
The lawyer hired by Petro Poroshenko left for Panama to protect the interests of the Ukrainian ex-president in the “offshore case” initiated by Andrei Portnov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The initiator of the criminal prosecution of Poroshenko, Andrei Portnov, announced this in his Telegram channel.
“I inform you that Poroshenko’s offshore companies, which are under investigation in my application in Panama for laundering criminal proceeds, have hired lawyers.
By a happy coincidence, a group of lawyers in defense of these Panamanian companies was led by a certain Vadim Medvedev, a lawyer for the Kyiv company Avellum, who previously officially defended and spoke in the media on behalf of Poroshenko and ROSHEN.
Let me remind you that Poroshenko’s representatives have previously stated that their defendant has nothing to do with assets and offshore companies, in respect of which I initiated an investigation in Panama and indicated them in my affidavit to the Panamanian authorities.
The other day, said Poroshenko's lawyer left for Panama to conclude agreements with local legal partners in the case of protecting Poroshenko's assets from criminal prosecution and arrest.
In the near future, we will collect more information about Poroshenko’s Panama case and inform you,” Portnov wrote.
He also called on journalists to ask the new lawyer of Poroshenko’s Panamanian offshore companies if he can show the pages of his passport without a Panamanian border stamp.
