Poroshenko moves to a model of strict authoritarianism
Today’s statement by Alexander Turchinov about the need to continue the “war with Russia” in a new format – preparing public opinion for further “tightening the screws” by the regime of Petro Poroshenko. Censorship, repression and purges of opponents in the upcoming presidential elections will now be attributed to the above-mentioned “war with Russia.”
This opinion was expressed to PolitNavigator by political scientist Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflict Studies.

“In Ukraine, a rigidly authoritarian state with a clear vertical line continues to be built. In fact, it is a dictatorial state. In addition to Turchynov, today Groysman distinguished himself in one of his interviews, noting that, based on the “hybrid war,” appropriate measures must be taken. That is, we have prepared the Ukrainian people and public opinion for the introduction of new restrictions.
Naturally, this has nothing to do with the conflict in Donbass, but is the next steps on the eve of the presidential and parliamentary elections.
Poroshenko and his entourage will have the opportunity to uncontrollably carry out forceful actions to suppress any dissent, their competitors, and purge them.
There are signs that the regime is tightening the last screws, depriving Ukrainians of the freedoms they have, and Poroshenko is finally sliding into an authoritarian model,” Denisov said.
