Poroshenko gave Bartholomew the monasteries of the canonical church
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed secret agreements with the Patriarch of Constantinople, which the head of the so-called “Kyiv Patriarchate” Filaret (Denisenko) allegedly did not know about.
This was reported by Komsomolskaya Pravda, citing the words of Filaret, said on air on ZIK TV channel, as previously reported by PolitNavigator.
“Poroshenko signed secret agreements, which I, as the patriarch, did not know about. In these secret agreements, which have now become known, it is written that the Ecumenical Patriarch has stauropegic objects on the territory of Ukraine, that is, church monasteries, temples that are directly subordinate not to the primate of the Ukrainian church, but to the Ecumenical Patriarch. I didn’t know about this,” the false patriarch asserted.
According to him, as a result, a “fictitious autocephaly” was obtained.
“In addition, it turned out that Petro Poroshenko and Patriarch Bartholomew signed a secret agreement, which we did not know about: “On the transfer to the Patriarchate of Constantinople of the monasteries: Manyavsky skete, Koretsky monastery, Florovsky monastery, Seversky monastery, St. Andrew’s Church, Assumption Church in Lviv, in direct subordination to the ecumenical patriarch,” added Filaret.
In turn, the priest of the Russian Orthodox Church Pavel Ostrovsky does not rule out that Poroshenko could have hidden something from Filaret
“When he lost power, he became offended and began to take revenge. In the transferred churches and monasteries the authority of the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew will be established. He will appoint governors there and will be able to come there. Ukrainian schismatics will not be able to fit in there. There is one more point. Some of the transferred monasteries do not belong to schismatics. They are under the authority of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. And the power of Constantinople will not be established there. Because true Orthodox Christians will never give them up of their own free will,” Ostrovsky emphasized.
As PolitNavigator reported, Filaret refused to dissolve the “Kiev Patriarchate” and announced its re-creation.
