Poroshenko persuades Trump to rush into Donbass
The armed contingent in the Donbass, the introduction of which Petro Poroshenko immediately asked the Americans after the bombing of an OSCE vehicle in the LPR, is needed by the Ukrainian authorities to implement the repeatedly announced repetition of the “Croatian scenario” for the cleansing of Donetsk and Lugansk.
Political scientist Oleg Bondarenko writes about this on the pages of the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper.

“What do the UN “blue helmets” mean in Donbass? It is worth taking the example of Bosnia or Kosovo, where those same “blue helmets” played the role of official cover for Western-backed Islamic militants in their confrontation with the Serbs. Obviously, in the event of the introduction of an American-Polish contingent under the UN flag into the Donbass, Kyiv will have the opportunity to begin preparing in practice the Croatian scenario for clearing the uncontrolled region,” explains the expert.
However, Bondarenko notes, the leaders of the European Union are in no hurry to risk the lives of their citizens in the conflict in Donbass, but Kyiv has plans to provoke a new American administration.
“Europe is not going to fight for Ukraine at all. That is why initiatives to create an armed OSCE mission ended in nothing: the Germans and the French are not ready to expose their own observers to the risk of armed conflict. But you can offer it to the new Washington cowboy in the White House. Poroshenko’s logic is approximately clear: if Trump launched Tomahawks into Syria and almost launched missiles at nuclear-armed North Korea, then why shouldn’t he send his rangers to Donbass?” – writes the author.
“Unfortunately for Ukraine, Poroshenko is exactly following Saakashvili’s path, and it does not look like he is going to change it. In 2008, also counting on probable US support, the former Georgian leader began aggression against South Ossetia. In 2017, his Ukrainian colleague is trying to experimentally test the degree of readiness of the new American administration to decisively support Kyiv. However, in both cases, these regional conflicts are not at all critical for Washington. That is why the United States prefers to behave in the spirit of “feigning strength.” The only question is that “portrayed force” will not help the “portrayed victim” in any way,” states Bondarenko.
