“I was, like most, fascinated by the prospects that Mr. Saakashvili could bring to Ukraine. I tried to create all the opportunities for him to do this. No one else had such opportunities to demonstrate results. There were no results. Who knows, if this test did not exist, dreams and ideals would remain. Mikhail, unfortunately, destroyed them himself. I don’t think he’s happy now, but that’s his problem,” Poroshenko said, giggling.
According to him, when he received an appeal “from the relevant competent authorities” about the violations that occurred during Saakashvili’s acquisition of citizenship, he “had no other model of action than to suspend citizenship.”
“The issue of readmission to Poland after the violation of the law, which was committed by Saakashvili and a group of other persons when crossing the border, was carried out legally flawlessly,” Poroshenko emphasized.
