This was announced by Petro Poroshenko in an address to the people regarding the decision of the European Parliament to provide a visa-free regime to citizens of Ukraine, reports the press service of the Ukrainian president.
“Visa-free travel will be of considerable practical importance for many citizens. Almost three million Ukrainians have already received or are currently receiving biometric passports, necessary for visa-free travel. In 2016 alone, Ukrainians crossed the state border with the countries of the European Union more than 15 million times,” says Poroshenko.
Poroshenko also assures that today’s vote is “recognition by the European Parliament of the depth of reforms in Ukraine.”
“The decision of the European Parliament is much broader than free travel and freedom of movement. This is even more pride in Ukrainian citizenship and the attractiveness of a Ukrainian passport. This is a symbol of Ukraine’s belonging to a single European civilizational space,” Poroshenko said.
