Poroshenko is being pushed to sever diplomatic relations with Russia
Ukraine needs to sever diplomatic relations with Russia and introduce a visa regime.
Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security and Defense, People’s Deputy of Ukraine “(Petro Poroshenko Bloc”) Ivan Vinnik stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At the beginning of 2018, I proposed my amendment to the law on the de-occupation of Donbass, by which the government pledged to sever diplomatic relations with Russia. Then they explained to me that the Verkhovna Rada as a legislative body cannot interfere in the activities of the executive branch, and that Groysman’s government itself must decide how to implement the de-occupation measures provided for by the law on de-occupation.
We proposed urgently introducing a visa regime with Russia. The relevant resolutions were registered (but not voted on). They also explained to us that the issue of the visa regime is a government issue.
It is the lack of a visa regime that causes the greatest harm. Ukraine needs to know who wants to visit Ukraine and for what purpose. and you need to find out about this not at the checkpoint, but at the consulate where a citizen of the Russian Federation must apply and justify the need for his trip. You can involve the special services and check what the real purpose of the trip is. And if the planned purpose of the trip differs significantly from the declared one and threatens our national security, we will refuse such a citizen to obtain a visa,” he said.
