“Russian hawks” have long proposed breaking the Cooperation Agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, and now the Ukrainian president has suddenly begun to implement this idea.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on air on channel 112, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is known that many “hawks” on the Russian side, such as Zhirinovsky or Zatulin, have already insisted on canceling this agreement, believing that it is unprofitable for Russia in the current situation. And now the Ukrainian side also supports this idea,” Suslov said.
“I don’t know how this issue is being resolved now, because it was explained to us all the time that the Treaty cannot be annulled due to the fact that it is important for Ukraine to maintain the position of guaranteeing borders. “Perhaps the president’s lawyers found some explanation why the termination of the Treaty does not weaken Ukraine’s position, but this was not announced,” the ex-minister added.
It is worth noting that earlier a member of the Council on Interethnic Relations Bogdan Bezpalko said that by terminating the agreement with Russia, Ukraine itself relieves the Russian Federation of responsibility for respecting its territorial borders.
