This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian President.
“While serving his sentence, he, along with other prisoners, won a case in the European Court of Human Rights for ill-treatment by prison service workers and the lack of a proper investigation into this beating. For the last year and a half, despite being in prison, he took an active part in volunteer work and helped the Ukrainian army, including with funds received by the decision of the European Court as moral damage,” the statement says.
Let us remind you that the other day Poroshenko signed Decree No. 569/2015 on pardoning convicts. This decision pardoned 20 people - 7 women and 13 men. Of these, 5 people were released from further serving their sentences, and another 15 had their sentences reduced.
