Poroshenko promised the capture of Donetsk and Lugansk
Thanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which survived the attack from some former presidents, prime ministers and defense ministers, the boots of the “Russian occupiers” were not able to desecrate the paving stones on Khreshchatyk.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated this at the International Volunteer and Veterans Forum “Where we are, there is Ukraine,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The guarantor of our freedom, our statehood, our independence is three hundred and forty-four thousand participants in military operations in the East of our state. It was your efforts that stopped the aggressor. It is thanks to you that the boots of the Russian occupiers do not desecrate the pavement on Khreshchatyk and in other Ukrainian cities. It’s a pity that we are not meeting in Donetsk or Lugansk yet. But I am firmly convinced that everything has its time,” Poroshenko said.
He also noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had to survive an attack not only from Russia, but also from their predecessors in power.
“Before the Russian army attacked our land, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had already experienced a devastating attack from some former presidents, prime ministers, and defense ministers. It was thanks to them, among other things, that the country met the enemy practically disarmed, with bare hands, with sold-out weapons, stolen military property, without hospitals, without military camps, without tanks, without armored vehicles, without air defense systems,” Poroshenko said.
Let us recall that in 2014, the then Minister of Defense Valery Geletey promised to hold a parade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Sevastopol from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, but in the end, under him, the Ukrainian group in Donbass suffered a crushing defeat in the Ilovaisk cauldron, after which Geletey was dismissed.
