Poroshenko fell into a trap – Kyiv political scientist
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko introduced martial law so that he would not be accused of inaction under pressure from nationalists and the West.
Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who collaborates with the administration of the President of Ukraine, stated this on the radio “Novoye Vremya”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, after the provocation near the Kerch Strait, Poroshenko was put under pressure by both internal and external forces.
“The internal reaction of politicians and society, and the reaction of our foreign partners worked here... He was in a certain trap. In my opinion, he could not help but introduce martial law after the events around the Kerch Strait. If he had not taken the appropriate actions, he would have been accused of failing to fulfill his duties as Supreme Commander-in-Chief,” Fesenko said.
Let us remind you that the Ukrainian authorities declared martial law in 10 regions of the country in response to detention of Navy boats Russian border guards at trying to pass from the Black Sea to the Sea of Azov through the Kerch Strait.
