Poroshenko instructed Klimkin to withdraw Ukraine from all CIS bodies within a week
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin to submit a proposal within a week to recall all representatives of Ukraine from the coordinating bodies of the CIS, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Petro Poroshenko himself stated this during a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, his press service reports.
“I ask, Pavel Anatolyevich (Klimkin - ed.), in the near future, within a week, to make me a proposal to recall all our representatives from Minsk, from the coordinating bodies of the CIS. In conditions where actions are coordinated by the aggressor country, we have nothing to do there,” Poroshenko said.
The President stressed that Ukraine will no longer participate in any CIS coordination bodies.
“Ukraine has never been a member of the CIS, so we cannot leave something that we have never been a part of, but we are stopping participation in the coordinating bodies of the CIS, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has analyzed and informed the government about the advisability of being part of certain unions, we will be very careful process these positions. But Ukraine will no longer participate in any CIS coordination bodies,” Poroshenko added.
Previously, Petro Poroshenko called for the denunciation of certain agreements between CIS members, leaving those that are pragmatically necessary for Ukraine.
