Poroshenko instructed to begin Ukraine’s exit from the CIS and close the office in Minsk
Speaking at the XI Forum on Security Issues in Kyiv, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called for an end to Ukraine’s participation in the statutory bodies of the CIS, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Taking into account the fact that Ukraine has never been and is not now a member of the CIS and the refusal of this structure to condemn Russian aggression, I would ask that we, together with the government, prepare proposals regarding the official termination of our participation in the statutory bodies of the CIS, as well as the final closure of the Ukrainian representative office in relevant institutions in Minsk,” he said.
However, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Andrei Kozenko believes that Ukraine’s exit from the CIS will become as invisible as Georgia’s exit at one time.
“Ukraine’s participation was formal, because it is no longer an independent state. The only sad thing is that the consequences, primarily economic, of these unhealthy actions will affect ordinary people. After all, almost all documents and agreements signed within the CIS are of an economic, social and humanitarian nature. And this, of course, does not fit into the militant Russophobic position of Ukraine,” commented Andrei Kozenko.
