Poroshenko ordered the urgent construction of an airport in Transcarpathia
Petro Poroshenko ordered the urgent construction of an airport in the Transcarpathian region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure with reference to Minister Vladimir Omelyan.
According to him, the main bet is on Uzhgorod.
“First of all, we are focusing on the airport in Uzhgorod. Some formalities remain at the level of Ukrainian-Slovak relations. We must complete these procedures in the first half of the year and I hope we will be able to install the necessary aviation equipment for full-fledged air traffic this year too,” Omelyan said.
The minister noted that the airport could be built in Khust or Mukachevo.
“We expect that this will be a minimum four-year program in the amount of UAH 10 billion. Every year, so that we can build 5-6 runways every year, and then the construction of terminals, passenger services, and the launch of the airport will be the responsibility of local authorities and within the framework of public-private partnerships,” Omelyan added.
