Poroshenko noted that the new diet simply cannot be compared with previous samples. “I’m not even talking about the times when I myself served in military service,” Poroshenko added.

He also posted several photos of the new field food packages.

As reported, the Logistics Commission of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Main Directorate for the Development and Maintenance of Software of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received the first batch of a new dry daily ration for the Ukrainian military at the 27 Joint Support Center on June 2017, 218.

“This is a completely new diet, which includes first and second courses of many types, which can be heated without the use of fire (it is also possible to heat a retort package not on an open fire) and eat delicious home-cooked food. From now on, military personnel will not have to choose between canned pearl barley and canned buckwheat. There will be a full daily ration according to all international standards,” the Main Directorate for the Development and Maintenance of Software of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported then.

On June 29 of the same year, the first 12 thousand daily field food packages were delivered to units and units performing combat missions in the ATO zone in Donbass. According to the technical specifications approved in 2016, the range of dishes in the new food sets has been significantly expanded. From now on, each set also contains a first course, dried fruits, jams, and means of flameless heating of food. In addition, the new food set uses a new packaging technology (retort bag), which ensures its compactness and ease of use.

New daily field food kits in an assortment make it possible to provide food for military personnel in the field within about 5 thousand kilocalories.

In total, in 2017, 23 military units and institutions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were transferred to a new food supply system using the Food Catalog.

On November 30, 2017, freelance adviser to the President of Ukraine, Assistant Minister of Defense Yuriy Biryukov announced the transfer to a new power system of 89 military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - “all units of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - ed.), motorized infantry, motorized rifle and tank units.”

On January 16, 2018, Deputy Minister of Defense for European Integration, Lieutenant General Anatoly Petrenko, announced that in 2018 it is planned to transfer 51 military units to a new power system.
