Poroshenko complained of an unpleasant aftertaste from Western anti-Russian sanctions
It is necessary to understand that the West reacts more sensitively to its own problems than to the Ukrainian issue; one thing is important - everyone is up in arms against Moscow.
Petro Poroshenko stated this from the podium of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Some people are offended that the sanctions in connection with the annexation of Crimea and the Russian occupation of Donbass look softer than those imposed for interference in the American elections and the chemical attack in Salisbury. Of course, there is an unpleasant aftertaste. But it is more important that sanctions against Moscow are now associated not only with Ukraine. Why? Because a sober understanding is coming that Russia is not only our problem, that it is a threat to the entire civilized world. We will consistently resist attempts to ease pressure on Russia.
The Kremlin’s tactical task to lift sanctions in January next year under the pretext of Ukraine’s “alleged” failure to comply with the Minsk agreements - we must destroy this scenario. I’m sure we won’t allow it, but know that there is a mitigation. The fact that Russia is fighting sanctions so hard indicates that they are effective, they are working, since the ruble is falling even with rising oil prices, the Russian government is forced to raise the retirement age, has decided to increase VAT - this is the price of aggression.” ,” Poroshenko said.
